The more the years go by, the more expensive travelling seems to be. What stops some people from exploring the world through travel is the costs. The good thing about Jackson, Mississippi is that it is a historical town and that means that there are plenty of museums and outdoor monuments to check out. Most of those attractions are usually free or are inexpensive in costs. If you are planning on traveling to Jackson, Mississippi, here is a way to save money on your trip by vising these places.

Mynelle Gardens

Admission: $5 for adults, $3 for children

Hours: Monday through Saturday from 9am-4:15pm

Mynelle Gardens was originally a private garden, but now it is an arboretum and botanical center that is open to the public. There are seven acres of flowers that bloom in different times throughout the year. You can view the garden through a 45 minute tour.

 

Mississippi Governor’s Mansion

Admission: Free

Hours: Tuesday through Friday from 9:30am-11am

The Mississippi Governor’s Mansion is the “second oldest continuously occupied governor’s residence in the country.” It was first occupied in 1842, but now it’s a landmark to the city of Jackson. The public is allowed to tour the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion during their hours of operation.

 

Mississippi Museum of Natural Science

Admission: $6 for adults, $4 for children

Hours: Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm, Saturday from 9am-5pm, and Sunday from 1pm-5pm

Located in LeFleur’s Bluff State Park is the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. There, you can find exhibits indoors and outdoors, an aquarium, and 25 miles of natural trails. There are plenty of interactive areas for children and families to enjoy.

 

Mississippi Museum of Art

Admission: Free

Hours: Tuesdays through Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12pm-5pm

The Mississippi Museum of Art is one of Jackson’s premier attractions. It is a modern museum that has collections of American art. The art museum has permanent art and they also have exhibits that interchange and are swapped out for other pieces.

 

Mississippi Children’s Museum

Admission: $10

Hours: Tuesday from 9am-5pm and Sunday from 1pm-6pm

The Mississippi Children’s Museum has a goal to improve the education and health of the children in the Jackson community and all over the world. There, you could find exhibits covering all kinds of topics including science, math, and technology. The Mississippi Children’s Museum also holds annual events and summer camps.
